Green-cheeked conures are small to medium-sized parrots known for their vibrant plumage and playful personality. Native to South America, they are popular as pets due to their affectionate nature and ability to bond with their human companions. These birds come in a variety of color variations, including cinnamon, pineapple, turquoise and yellow. Green-cheeked Coons need a balanced diet that includes pellets, fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as plenty of social interaction and mental stimulation. With proper care, they can live 15 to 20 years or more in captivity, making them beloved members of many households.
The Scarlet-Chested Parakeet, scientifically known as Neophema splendida, is a small and vibrantly colored parrot native to Australia. Noted for its striking plumage, it boasts a bright green body with red spots on its chest, blue wings and hints of yellow on its face. These social birds are often found in small flocks or pairs and exhibit playful and active behavior. In the wild, they live in a variety of environments, including forests, grasslands, and coastal scrub, preferring areas near water sources. During the breeding season, they nest in tree hollows, usually from September to January, laying 4 to 6 eggs.
The Eclectus parrot (Eclectus roratus) is a visually striking bird species known for its extreme sexual dimorphism, with males and females exhibiting dramatically different plumage. Native to the tropical rainforests of Papua New Guinea, Indonesia, Australia, and the Solomon Islands, Eclectus parrots are prized for their brilliant colors, gentle temperament, and high level of intelligence. Male Eclectus parrots are primarily bright green while females are primarily bright red with a deep purplish-blue chest.
Blue and Gold Macaws, aptly named for their magnificent plumage, are another member of the macaw family, captivating us with their dynamic beauty and playful personalities.
Red macaws are actually parrots, belonging to the family Psittacidae and subfamily Arinae, which includes all macaws. They are the largest parrot species found in Central and South America, making them truly amazing creatures.
